Quiet Luxury

Quiet Luxury or stealth wealth has been popularised through the recent hit series Succession. In the show the Roy family is depicted as the epitome of quiet luxury. Siobhan Roy, the leading lady of the show’s outfit are consistently perfectly composed, subtle yet clever. She embodies the adage “Money talks, wealth whispers.

So what does it take? Well, the quiet luxury woman chooses extraordinary craftsmanship and luxurious fabrics. Think perfectly tailored suits and shirts, silk skirts, cashmere sweaters and roll necks. Whilst the fabrics may be lavish the tones remain muted. It is called QUIET luxury, so think of monotone outfits and deep colours such as black, cream, navy, camel, emerald and chocolate but no loud prints or bright colours. Brands that fit the quiet luxury aesthetic are MaxMara, The Row, Celine, The Frankieshop and Jill Sander.

Old Money

The most well-known example of the old money aesthetic are probably Diana Spencer and Kate Middleton. The Old Money aesthetic is characterised by the sports and country activities traditionally practised by those from generational wealth. Hence why the British Royal Family is such a poster child for it.

Think polo shirts, tennis dresses and country jackets. Although, often practical, the fabrics and fits remain very chic and elegant like the outfit worn on the picture by Kate Middleton for example. If you want to get the old money look, seek for heritage and country brands such as Hackett, Barbour, Ralph Lauren, Dubarry and one of my absolute favourites Holland Cooper.

it is a far more conscious and sustainable option to opt for a timeless style rather than trends.

Timeless Style

Timeless style is when you develop your personal style and reflect on what suits you best regardless of any trends. You look at which shapes highlight your body type in the best possible way and what colours make you glow. It is about finding out what is important to you and then choosing what feels right rather then what is trending.

And yes our body types change and so do our preferences but they often chance more slowly than the trend calendar. Not to mention that when a piece matches your hair colour, skin complexion, eye colour and bone type, chances that you will look good in it for years to come are quite high. Therefore, it is a far more conscious and sustainable option to opt for a timeless style rather than trends.

Timeless style evolves around your personal style and requires you to find what is important to you and then choosing what feels right rather then what is trending.
