Neutrals on the runway
From Max Mara to Tod’s, Burberry, Ferragamo and Prada all presented neutral beige colours next to light greys, blues and black. In all honesty I’m not sure I was getting all the spring summer vibes from the collections this season. Unlike Tom Ford and Carolina Herrera during New York Fashion Week, the ones in London and Milan felt a lot more autumn that summer.
Max Mara, Simplistic Elegance
From all the show at Milan Fashion week the one from Max Mara was my absolute fave. The collection was simple and pure but oh so elegant. Even though some of the looks did reveal skin and mid riffs, it was done in a very elegant and subtle way. This is what modern sophistication looks like to me.
The collection used cream, beige and black tones and yet did not feel gloomy and dark at all. It gave a very natural, easy breezy, confident and I would almost say comfortable look and feel.
Oh My Gucci
Alessandro Michele knocked it out the park at Gucci with his collection titled “Twinsburg”. In total 68 identical twins came down the runway in the most spectacular outfits.
Michele is the son of an identical twin, and the collection was inspired by his childhood experience. “There’s something uncanny, even magical about twins”, Michele said. The looks itself walked through the ages including Hollywood glitter, souped up active wear, 80’s gremlin embellished or equestrian style, he went through it all. This show was simply stated: Amazing
Barbiecore meets Rockchic at Versace
Donatella rocked the Barbiecore trend from this year and brought it to a whole other level. The looks at Versace were tough, yet girlish as they combined pink and purple colours with true rock chick silhouettes. I can already see every single on of these looks turning gazes at Cochella next year.
Closing this season’s Versace show was the original miss barbiecore, Paris Hilton. Giving the collection even more rock chick credibility.
English Flowers at Erdem
Erdem’s collection for spring summer 2023 included the most dreamy flower patterns. Truly showcasing the most magical English flower meadows you have ever seen. At the same time Erdem Moralioglu showed his incredible tailoring skills.
Many of the looks showed deconstructed shirts and corsets and played with different materials and proportions. The whole collection was a true delight for anyone who appreciates the finer art of fashion tailoring.

From simplistic elegance at Max Mara to twinning at Gucci and barbiecore rock chick at Versace these are the highlights from Milan fashion week.
