The Chanel Country Woman in tweed

Gabrielle Chanel first discovers tweed in the twenties during a trip to Scotland. During a walk in the Highlands she gathered flowers and plants in the different colours she wants the craftsmen to provide the tweed fabric in.

Once a country side staple gets turned into a city must have when she creates the Chanel Suit. Ever since it has been a true House code for Chanel. For her AW2022 collection Virginie Viard goes back to the river tweed, imagining what Gabrielle Chanel would wear on her walks through those Highlands. Scotland was not only the home of this beautiful fabric but also that of Gabrielle’s lover, the Duke of Westminster. In the House’s archives Viard finds a picture of Gabrielle wearing the Duke’s wellies and clothes which inspires her for the show. Is their anything more intimate than wearing the clothes of a loved one? To me the look above is the perfect embodiment of what a Chanel woman would wear in the countryside, a true hommage to the House codes whilst showing the playfulness and youthful vision that Viard brings to the House. And I mean just look at those accessories, absolutely stunning!

Power and femininity at Saint Laurent

This second look is designed by Anthony Vaccarello who became the creative director of Saint Laurent in 2016. A position that comes with great responsibility. Saint Laurent was a great designer who lived to serve women through powerful, sexy yet soft designs, he made the first female tuxedo.

With his latest AW2022 collection, the Belgian designer, showcased that he possesses the Saint Laurent aesthetic and is capable of making it his own. This look is undeniably Saint Laurent yet has Vaccarello’s signature feel with its constricted draping and the attention to the body. This woman is sexy, fierce yet has this soft elegance to it.

Parisian glam at Giambattista Valli

My lord the glamfactor of the AW2022 collection by Giambattista Valli was of the charts! In his latest collection the designer explores the dichotomies that exist between the Parisian generations when it comes to fashion. The difference between cool and chic and what defines it.

The mystery that the Parisian woman has that makes us all want to be her. The skirts and dresses have a sixties hemline that evolves into flared trousers later in the collection referring the student protest in 1968. The look above is classic, romantic and I can’t help but think how cool yet sophisticated she looks!

Those were my top 3 looks from Paris Fashion Week, what were yours? I’m dying to know, so drop yours in the comments below!
