Oh my gosh, I can’t believe January is over already! I mean, how did this happen?! I hope all of you had a great start to the year, I know I did. I did not deliver on all my resolutions for the full 100% during January. Yet, I’m very glad with what I managed to do and I’m accepting that change is not an overnight thing but a learning curve. This year, I want to focus the blog a lot more on creating your own style and really share my own tips and tricks with you. However, I know many of you also like to stay up-to-date with what’s new and ongoing in the world of Fashion and Beauty. Therefore I’ve decided to end each month with a wrap up the 3 most mentionable news facts of that month, here we go!
Gucci appointed Sabato De Sarno as Creative Director
Gucci has finally named Alessandro Michele’s successor: Sabato De Sarno. De Sarno will assume the role of Creative Director for all Gucci collections including womenswear, menswear, leather goods, accessories and lifestyle. He joins the Italian power house from Valentino where he worked closely with Pierpaolo Piccioli as Fashion Director. De Sarno who is born and raised in Napoli started his fashion career in 2005 at Prada. Having joined Dolce and Gabbana afterwards he has a strong track record in Italian Fashion Houses.
De Sarno will make his debut at the Milan Fashion Week in September 2023. He is proud and excited to work for an Italian Fashion House with such a longstanding history and looks forward to bring his creative vision to the brand. And we look forward to see his work this fall!
Estée Lauder Companies buys the Tom Ford brand
Estée Lauder Companies best known for its beauty and skincare brands such as Estée Lauder, La Mer & Clinique are in the process of buying the Tom Ford brand. This is not exactly a surprise given the long term partnership between the two companies. Estée Lauder owns the beauty license to the Tom Ford Beauty brand ever since its launch in 2006.
“Estée Lauder Companies is the ideal home for the brand. They have been an extraordinary partner from the first day of my creation of the company, and I am thrilled to see them become the luxury stewards in this next chapter,” said Ford in a statement. The acquisition ensures Estée Lauders ownership of the Tom Ford Beauty license beyond its expiration in 2030. Moreover, it eliminates the need to pay royalty payments. Estée Lauder will become the sole owner of the TOM FORD brand including its Beauty, Luxury clothing and eyewear collections.
Tom Ford, the CEO and Founder of Tom Ford International, will stay on as creative visionary until the end of calendar year 2023.
A game of musical chairs at LVMH
LVMH or Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy is one of the largest fashion conglomerates in the world led by Bernard Arnault. Its portfolio includes brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Moët & Chandon, Fendi, Tag Heuer and Tiffany & Co. At the start of the new year the fashion conglomerate announces some significant changes in leadership of its brands.
Pietro Beccari, currently CEO of Christian Dior, will take on the role of chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton. Delphine Arnault, Bernard Arnault’s daughter, will succeed Beccari as CEO of Christian Dior, one of the largest brands in the LVMH portfolio.
I’m excited to see Delphine Arnault at one of my favourite brands, Christian Dior, and look forward to see what she’ll be doing there. She just spend time at LVMH where she showed great talents on the product side, so the future looks promising.
