Active wear meets casual chic
Just when we are brushing off our heels and taking out our dresses from under the pandemic’s dust, Michael Kors and Ellesse drop an athleisure collaboration. The 24-piece capsule collection combines retro seventies vibes with Michael Kors’ casual chic that we all know and love.
The collection combines warm burned orange and red hues with dark navy and white. Every piece is emblazoned with a unique insignia combining the Ellesse and Michael Kors logos. It has everything to make anyone wannabe the next sporty spice. My absolute favourites are the track pants and the cropped t-shirts, I can already see myself living in those. Finally, the face of the collection is Emily Ratajkowski whose effortless look is a perfect match.
Ellesse, Italian Sportswear
Ellesse is an Italian active wear brand that was founded in 1959 by Leonardo Servadio. Named after its founder “L.S.”, Ellesse first became popular in the seventies with its skiwear. However, the brand would only become known among the broad audience after being featured in Centre Pompidou in Paris to celebrate Italian design. Later on the brand also got closely associated with tennis, seeing the brand’s logo references the form of a tennis ball. Finally, the brand is also a proud member of the Better Cotton Initiative and supports sustainable cotton farming. Ellesse is committed to source 80% of its cotton as Better Cotton by 2023!
Michael Kors’ distinct style
Now, how do we get from active wear to Michael Kors? Easy, the American designer, who founded his namesake brand in 1981, had a very distinct style from the get go. The ingredients to Michael Kors’ casual chic are luxury with a touch of sportive comfort, seasoned with a whole lot of American personality.
