I never imagined us as the couple that would have a pair of rain boots and walking shoes next to the door. Yet here we are! A pandemic and a new house later and guess what’s next to the door?! Rain boots and muddy walking shoes.
Before corona we weren’t much of an outdoorsy couple. If we spoke about going for a walk over the weekend we meant stroll up and down the shopping streets of Antwerp. No judgments please. Then when the world shut down due to covid and we both had to work from our little apartment, we took it on to go for walks over lunch. We really enjoyed it as it was the only movement our bodies got the entire day, except for the daily dose of Yoga each morning. Moreover, it gave this mental calm and brought us even closer as a couple since we would talked the entire time about all sorts of things from what happened at work to what we would do when covid was over and just life.
So when we started looking for houses, being near a green environment with walking possibilities became a key requirement. And we set our minds to something we tend to bring it home! Our house is at the border of a nature reserve, and we still go for walks during lunch as much as our work allows us to. By now you know I can’t resist to find the perfectly stylish solution to my muddy shoe problem and in comes the red rubber wellington boots from Hunter Boots.
Join the Welly brigade
The Wellington Boot as we know it today was first introduced in 1956, it lends its name from a leather military riding boot that was worn and popularised by the 1st Duke of Wellington. Just like its leather counterpart the rubber boot became a staple foot wear worn by the middle- to upper-class rural people in England, who are still sometimes referred to as the ‘Green Welly Brigade’.
Today, Hunter Boots is know as a British Heritage brand and its iconic original tall wellington boot exists in all sorts of colours like the gorgeous red ones I’m wearing. The brand is also loved by the Queen the of England and her husband and therefore holds two Royal Warrants of Appointment to HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. In other words these boots are a r(l)oyal companion for all your muddy rainy walks!
